Emergency Preparedness

In November 2016, rules were accepted that affect emergency preparedness programs for all providers that participate in Medicare.  Requirements of these rules will be implemented November 16, 2017; which is just around the corner!

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released an advance copy of interpretive guidelines June 2.  We have compiled an outline of the rural health clinic emergency preparedness program requirements based on the regulation, §491.12, and the advance copy interpretive guidelines.

We are hopeful these details will be helpful in creating a “road map” for your facilities to become proficient in emergency preparedness requirements, and insert an operative and compliant emergency program.
